The Freedom 4 Miler is more than just a walk/run; it’s a tribute to our local fallen heroes. Each of the four miles is dedicated to a different service member, allowing participants to learn about their lives, their service, and their favorite things. This unique setup transforms the run into a powerful journey of remembrance and gratitude.
Every dollar raised from the Freedom 4 Miler goes to Believe With Me, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to supporting America’s Gold Star families. This year’s event aims to provide Christmas gifts to 2,500 children who have lost a parent in military service. Through Believe With Me, these children receive a touch of joy and a reminder that their loved ones’ sacrifices are never forgotten.
The event offers something for everyone:
- 4 Mile Walk/Run: The main event through the shady paths of Al Lopez Park, honoring our fallen heroes.
- 1 Mile Patriot’s Walk/Run: Perfect for adults and kids looking to join the cause at a shorter distance.
- 100 yd Tiny Cadet Cupcake Dash: An adorable race for children 5 and under, ensuring even the youngest can participate.
But the fun doesn’t stop with the races. Participants can enjoy a festive snowball fight, a delicious pancake breakfast, and a series of awards recognizing the top finishers in various age groups and overall categories. It’s a day filled with activity, camaraderie, and community spirit.
